Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time Marty decided he wanted to learn how to talk.. so he picked up a good book on the subject
He studied very intently...
And read for hours and hours...
In the end he decided that talking was over rated and he would stick to just being a baby
The End

Little Funnies

In the adventures of new mommy hood some rather silly stuff has been happening...
* Assistant principal who only met me 9 months pregnant asked me if I was Mrs. McNairy this morning. I said yes, and shocked he said,"Wow I didn't recognize you. I'm sorry"
What, was I like a huge pregnant woman or something? Answer: Yes I was. haha Its fun to look back and laugh now that my sweats look like sweats again and not leggings. 5lbs to go before pre-preggo weight. wahoo
* I took Marty to Costco the other day. I love that store. I encountered two problems however. First problem, it's really hard to get to the samples with a cart! I used to just leave my cart and wander over to the samples and weasle my way to the front of the line. Sure it is frowned on to leave your baby for a bite size ravioli on a toothpick. ( Not that I would, I'm just saying) So, the only sample I was able to get that had no line or mob of other hungry shoppers was a piece of cheese. Lame.

Problem #2- I am short. I can't see around the cart when I put Marty in his carrier on the front of the cart. I try really hard to navigate safely without running into glass displays or stacks of cookies( Yes both happened, but no damage to cart or cookies) but just can't see whats infront of me unless its very big .While pushing my cart with Marty in it I most definitely ran into another cart with a 3 year old sitting in the front. Yes, I ran into her legs, yes I made her cry, yes I felt terrible. In my defense I would have been able to see this abandoned cart with a small small child in had her mom not been busy trying to get sample of one of those bites sized raviolis. Come on lady, stay by your cart/kid. Priorities. Sheesh

*Marty slept through the NIGHT!!! (by night I mean 11-6:45) I am overjoyed by this. I felt like I slept forever last night. Consequently I heard one of my friends with out kids mention this morning that she has been waking up once a night for the last few weeks and how weird it was. I thought it funny that I forgot normal people don't get up numerous times in the night.

*I talk to Marty all the time while it's just us at home. I am now noticing I am talking to myself even when he is not in the room. I actually said, " Mommy's just going to get a drink of water now" and laughed out loud and realized, A. I could get a drink with out announcing to world that that was what I was doing but also that B. Marty was asleep in his bed

I am loving being a mom. I hate every minute I am not with him. I can't wait for Christmas and more family to meet the little charmer. Scott took him to class with him for a test review and he was smiling at all the girls in Scott's class. He is a flirt. Ladies under 6 months watch out.

Until next time...

Picture Overload

Lessons in mommy hood-
lesson #1- Even though your little boy wishes he were born in California he was born in Utah. This morning it was -4 degrees. Thats really really cold. Well, the cold has adversely affected Marty's skin, making it really dry. The doctor suggested some lotion and shampoo that could help. Silly mom, I thought well, if lotion was good for skin then why not put it on his head cause his scalp looked dry. Yargh.. it ended up like super thick gel paste. Haha we were able to have some good laughs though making his little peach fuzz into a mow hawk and like mo from the three stooges. MArty had a good time, if you can't tell from the pictures. Sorry I got carried away. As a photographer I am embarrassed that there is a very distracting red bag behind his head. oh well.

This is my favorite beanie for the kid, not to mention the only one that fits him right now so it gets a lot of use. We recently purchased our first Christmas tree and first holiday decorations as a family and Marty sported this hat and was a hit at Walmart and Tai Pan trading.
We recently had his 2 month check up and the little chunk is 13lbs! 82nd percentile! To give you an idea of our cute little solid kid, his head is in the 52nd percentile and he is in the 39th percentile for height. Short and solid, a kid after my own heart.
I LOVE this little guy.

Give me some cheese to go with this Whine

So last week was my first week back to work after having the babe. I only work half days and I only had to work 2 days last week and then was off for Thanksgiving. I will be on honest, it really wasn't that bad last week. It was nice to be out of the house and I was home by 12:30, I was thinking, this is great!.

This week however is a whole other story. I came home from work yesterday to find my cute adorable baby asleep. I missed him so much I woke him up to hold him only to find out he smelled like another woman... the baby sitter! . So what you might say? Well it was devastating! It felt as if one of has had been cheating and the cheater was me, the working woman! Scott is home in the morning so it really is only 2 hours that he is with a sitter (who is great btw) but still it's me who is gone for 4 1/2 hours. I was only home with him for about an hour and a half and then had to go back last night. While this is not a normal occurrence I will be honest, it killed me. I guess it just makes me more grateful that I am a mom and that I love being a mom so much, even when I feel like I am going nuts being inside all day. I know its just a half day. I know it will get better right?

Any working mom's out there? How do you/did you do it?? Yargh, and it's only Tuesday
